Linen souvenir postcard; 3.5" x 5.5", "A Texas Longhorn (Steert) Width of Horns 9 ft. 6in.; T3; Front of the postcard is a lithograph image of a Texas longhorn steer standing in a green grass field with a treeline behind it. Printed on the reverse side of the postcard in the top-left hand corner "Texas is the ranking beef producing state in the Union. Blooded Herefords and other fancy breeds almost entirely replace the famous Longhorn." The postcard has a green George Washington 1 cent postage stamp in top-right hand corner. Postmarked from Carlsbad, N. Mex, dated 1900. The card is hand addressed to Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Boyd, Doris & Buzzie in Covington, Tenn. Greetings are :We are seeing Carlsbad Caverns today. Wish you coud be with us. Love Polly & Joe. At the top of the backside of the postcard is written "(over) Buzzie how you like this friend?" |
